THERE is no confirmed cure for HIV/AIDS at present, though possible treatment for the scourge of the disease had been discovered.
The statement was contained in the lecture delivered by the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Agency for Control of HIV/AIDS in Oyo State (OYO SACA), Mrs Bimbo Oyebamiji, during an advocacy meeting for the youth leaders by the Oyo State Agency for Youths Development at the Social Development Staff Training Centre, Samonda, Ibadan.
Mrs Oyebamiji advised the youths to totally abstain from unprotected sex, so as to reduce untimely death which comes through HIV/AIDS infection.
In his own remark, a member of the board for the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Elder Bayo Adigun observed that, HIV/AIDS is a global phenomenon, which must be reduced to zero level.
Elder Adigun called on members of the public to accommodate HIV/AIDS victims, in order to allow them declare their status, through which the scourge would be minimised.
Comrade Olatunji Oluwabukola, the chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oyo State chapter, called on youths to abstain from sex or alternatively, use condom in their own interest.
Earlier in her welcome address, the desk officer for the HIV/AIDS project, the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Mrs Aerat Olaide Adegbola, who organised the advocacy meeting, declared that the objective of the meeting is to enlist the support of youth leaders to bear their influence on peers, so as to jointly fight the deadly disease to the stand still.
