Bacterial Prostatitis Symptoms - How To Know If That's What You Really Have

Monday, September 24, 2012

Often men get bacterial prostatitis symptoms mixed up with other similar conditions, which can confuse them on what to do. Below are some of the more common signs to look for and some tips on what to do if you think you have the condition.

Here are some of the symptoms to watch for.

Bear in mind, depending if you have acute or chronic prostatitis, not all of them will apply to you necessarily:
  • Lower back pain (especially if you haven't done anything to cause it - like heavy lifting, exercise, sitting all day, etc)
  • A lot of discomfort in the area between your anus and your penis (technically called the "perineum"
  • Throbbing pain in your testicles (one or both)
  • Painful, "burning" urination (if it spreads to your bladder)
  • Constantly feeling like you have to go pee at any time of the day or night
  • Having the "chills" for no reason (even in a warm room)
  • Fever
  • Body aches
Obviously, bacterial prostatitis symptoms are no picnic. So what should you do if you have these symptoms?

The first thing you should do is see a urologist. The reason why is, you may NOT have prostatitis at all, and could have something else entirely. But besides that, you should also start taking actions on your own.

Drinking more water (at least half your body weight in ounces), eating better (eat "clean" foods only), get lots of rest and, if you can swing it, have more sex (if it's not painful).

Bacterial prostatitis symptoms can be painful, make sure you understand what it is and get help immediately.
